You wrote they never had classic albums anymore after the first two, but I don't think this is correct, my favorite album of them is Northern Lights – Southern Cross. That one also contains their best song in my opinion, Acadian Driftwood. Those lyrics are incredible how they also ring true about what has happened to Hong Kong.
Also their first album without Robertson is also killer. And no, Levon and Robbie did not make up in the end, Levon was already days into a coma when Robertson visited.
Thanks for that. I would say though that while there would still be many great songs on Band albums throughout their recording career, no subsequent albums were as consistent as those first two albums, which I think of as "all killer, no filler."
In terms of Robertson visiting Helm at his deathbed, no account that I read mentions Helm being in a coma. But then again, no account that I read mentions Helms' reaction to Robertson's visit or recounts any dialogue between the two of them, so I think you're correct on that.
